Noorul Islam College of Arts & Science is an offspring of Noorul Islam Educational Trust. Noorul Islam Educational Trust is reputed for its commitment to the cause of higher education. Janab.Dr.A.P.Majeed Khan, the well known Philanthropist, is the Founder Chairman of the Trust. The Trust has to its credit certain popular technical and Educational Institutions, namely, the well-known, Noorul Islam University at Kumaracoil, Noorul Islam Polytechnic College at Punkarai, Noorul Islam Community College at Kumaracoil, Noorul Islam Multispeciality Hospital (NIMS) at Neyyantinkara and Noorul Islam Dental College.
The College is situated in the serene picturesque slope of the velimalai Hills in the Western Gnats near the historically famous and once the capital of Travancore Kingdom, Padmanabhapuram. It is about 55 kms. away from Thiruvananthapuram and 14 kms. from Nagercoil. The College campus is spread over an area of more than 15 acres of greenery.
NICAS started in 2001 by Noorul Islam Educational Trust, is affiliated to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli. With a meagre strength of just 75 students, offering three courses, Computer Science, Information Technology and Computer Applications, the college progressed leaps and bounds by adding new courses and infra facilities. To-day in the year 2011, the college has effective student strength of about one thousand one hundred and Sixty Three and offers 13 UG. Courses, 8 PG. Courses, 5 M.Phil. Courses and 1 Ph.D Programme. There are 93 members of the Teaching Staff and 38 members of the Administrative Staff. Among the Teaching Staff, there are 9 Ph.D holders and 74 M.Phil. degree holders.
